Island Record

Island Record is a selection of 46 images from the archive for a summer exhibition at The Garrison, Millport, Isle of Cumbrae. Images chosen to act as both mirrors and windows - reflecting personal memories while opening doors to untold stories, forgotten voices, and new interpretations of the past.
A personal selection that adds to collective memories of Cumbrae - an island that has effortlessly conjured cherished times for generations.
Each image is accompanied by a short audio recording and is marked by a point on the map where the photos were taken.
Alan has been visiting Millport and the Isle of Cumbrae annually since he was a baby and continues to visit year on year with friends and now his own grown-up family. He has a sustained love for Millport and the Isle of Cumbrae and has a substantial archive of images taken on his visits and holidays, with images dating from 1979.
This is his first solo show since launching the archive. You can also make an appointment to visit his studio and archive in Glasgow.
