Outside the Archive places 42 of Alan’s photographs from 1977 to 1999 across the city.
Glasgow, then and now – Alan Dimmick’s compelling street display curated by Martin Gray
26 July 2022 — 8 August 2022
Placed on billboards and some pop-up sites, from the city centre to Anniesland in the North West, these are consciously featured in locations close to where the image was taken.
Some depict interiors, others people, architecture and the urban landscape. They reflect back to us the city and the spaces, people, lifestyles and culture that make up our communities. Some contexts have changed dramatically and feel dislocated from what we see now, some haven’t shifted at all.
The map illustrates the sites where the photographs are posted in large scale and by tapping on the black pin will bring up information about the image you’ll find there.
With thanks to Jack Arts, Martin Gray, Creative Scotland and Glasgow City Council.
JACK ARTS SCOTLAND ILLUMINATED STREET GALLERY AND CITY-WIDE DISPLAY
This dedicated art space and city-wide display are part of Jack Arts Scotland’s ongoing commitment to championing creativity and culture on the street, supporting local creatives and charities and providing a powerful platform for artists.
The 6 panel, back lit, bespoke poster project at West Graham St, is curated by artist and photographer Martin Gray. The art installations will change throughout the year and highlight works from predominantly Glasgow based artists responding to our shared experience of the urban environment.
